I recommend that you go to a university and earn a four year degree -- Bachelor of Science contained by Nursing (BSN). Although there are several quicker routes to the RN (hospital diploma school of nursing or an Associates Degree in Nursing from a community college) you will find that more doors embark on to you down the road. A BSN would take 4 years, a diploma or an associates degree would be 2 years. Source(s): RN
