Are neonatal nurses considered doctors?

and do they make a good living?
Answers:
Nurses are never considered doctors (except for those who think they are, but explicitly only in their own mind).

Neonatal nurses and nurse practitioners make a clothed living, but not what a neonatologist (who IS a physician) would make.
No, nurses are nurses and doctors are doctors. They're completely different. An experienced neonatal nurse has a very strong knowledge podium and skill set, and is a quite valuable member of the squad, but nursing is different from medicine. Neonatal nurses don't make nearly what they deserve, but it's a comfortable living.
I completely agree with John de Witt. Nursing is Nursing and pills is medicine. They are two completely different professions. It doesn't matter how much Nurse training you do (or to what level- e.g. Msc, PhD) it will not make you a medical Doctor. No Nurses are considered medical Doctors.

You merely become a medical Doctor if you go to medical school and complete the relevant medical training. This is the same for Doctors, they cannot work as a Nurse until they hold gone to Nursing school and completed their Nurse training.

Medicine and Nursing are two separate professions.

Edit
Pangolin: I've come across very few Nurses who think they are Doctors. That would indeed be insulting to the Nursing profession,- which is a profession contained by it's own right. Source(s): Cardiac Nurse
No, they are not considered doctors, and they make a decent living.
