How do you multiply this compounded prescription?

Scenario:

"Rx Mixture: 1% Hydrocortisone
1% Salicylic Acid
QSAD 30 gm Sebizon lot.

a) How many grams of Hydrocortisone will you use to make this compound?

b) How many grams of Salicylic Acid will you use to produce this compound?

c) How many grams of Sebizon lotion will you use to make this compound?"

Explanations are highly appreciated as I enjoy to know how to do this for my next pharmacy technician test.

Thanks.

I got your email but will answer it here.

Firstly, 1% way 1gm/100gm, and QSAD means 'a quantity sufficient enough to bring up to'.

a) 1gm/100gm = xgm/30gm
(100gm * xgm) = (1gm * 30gm)
xgm = (1gm * 30gm) / 100gm
xgm = 0.3gm

b) Same estimate as above. 0.3gm

c) Since you need 30gm total;
30gm - 0.3gm - 0.3gm = 29.4gm of Sebizon lot. Source(s): Pharmacist
0.3 grams or 300mgs of hydrocortisone and salicylic acid. Then 29.4 grams of sebizon lotion. Source(s): pharmacist
