Some uninformed answers here, guess that's why you shouldn't rely on the internet for possibly important information.
Adderall XR is a mix of amphetamine salts, encased in different types of wax to engineer the drug long lasting. Basically half the salt dissolves in 45 minutes of taking the medication, and you start to feel the effects. Within four hours, the next dose dissolves to continue the effects of the previous dose.
Since Adderall is an amphetamine (or to some extent, a mix of four different amphetamine salts), the effects will differ on the dose. A 5mg dose for example, may make you more alert, thirsty/dry mouth, and slightly more energetic. A 20mg dose could make you get the impression very energetic, with the entail to "do something". Euphoria may kick in if you have no tolerance. In standard, a normal amphetamine effect. Obviously, depending on tolerance and dose, effects may differ. However, GENERALLY, everyone will receive improved focus and concentration.
As for the drug affecting people differently-That's a scientifically still debate point. Some doctors will claim that's true, while others dismiss it as pure hogwash. Will amphetamines help someone diagnosed with ADD concentrate? Of course, because they help ANYONE concentrate at the right dose! Source(s): Personal experience, reading literally hundreds of medical papers on the effects of ADD/ADHD medication and generally amphetamines.
Adderall xr is for patients that have ADHD but if a normal soul that tends to be a little unfocused take Adderall xr in small doses and not too frequently, it isn't harmful; what it does is it focuses the person for several hours. Also, it does so by slowing you down so for example, if you're taking a try-out (many times people get questions wrong because they're any not focused the question or they aren't answering the question completely) you are somewhat slowed down by the Adderall and you pay closer attention to detail and what the press is asking.

One or two doses will not make you hyper, but taking it regularly will. Source(s): I'm a physician.
