Using somatic genetic engineering, will we know how to live forever?

Like using for example the humpback whale's genes for ourselves(since humpback whales don't age). I am convinced that this will happen, but my question is that if it will happen within our lifetimes?
Cause it would be great to cheat death, to always know how to say there will be a tomorrow. And not to mention other benefits, like I can wall my own income, and compound interest can work wonders for an immortal being.
Answers:
what if someone shoots you? :S..or what if you're run over by a motor..etc.
Why would you want to be immortal man is not god seriously doubt this could happen unless we where made into a robot .I am simply in my 30s and cant wait for this to be over with.**** your crazy live forever why
It definitely is possible. Famous professor and scientist of longevity science Ray Kurzweil has be experimenting on his own body to see if it's possible to live longer. At the age of 60 he has been able to biologically transform himself (with the relief of numerous daily vitamins and intravenous fluids) to feel and operate as a 40 year old. With our latest understanding of the entire human genome we have come to an understanding of "our software". Now that we get our software we can reprogram it and possibly fix the things in our DNA that are responsible for death (known as telomeres). Not only have there been advances within DNA research that could lead to anti-aging but there's research in stem cells, psychology, and common physical health that contribute to a better understanding of how to live longer and maybe forever.
