Has anyone have thyroid surgery? If so, did you experience vomiting after wake up from the anesthesia?

i've never had surgery on my thyroid but yes i have vomited after waking up from anesthesia. some inhabitants just don't react to anesthesia well and experience different kind of side effects

nope! I felt great. not even voice problems. I felt "tight" as things healed...I hold a great site for you....www.thyca.org and the yahoo health groups for thyca...or thyroid...they are folks going thru what you will be. I woke up and missed meals and went to the vending gadget and got some juice and cookies (I had to really chew up the cookies.)

Post operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is related less to the type of surgery, and more to other factors. If you are prone to motion sickness, have have PONV before, are female and don't smoke, you're more likely to obtain sick.

Procedures in the belly, on the eyes and ears tend to cause more nausea than thyroidectomies.
