Is it ok to munch through moldy bread if you pick the mold stale?

Yo can eat it even without picking the mold off, in actual fact.

I remember a story from the old country. The army - during some conflict in the 19th century - were feed moldy bread (due to food shortages), and the soldiers survived to win the battle, while enemy soldiers, fed on fresh bread, died of dysentery. The mold happen to produce penicillin.

Yes and No because the other parts of the bread have mold growing on them you just cant see them yet...but in that is probably mold there..
On the other hand, if you are starving I say aloud yes, a little mold wont hurt
