I have acid Indigestion, I even have to have a camera down into my stomach, and they found that there's this little "flap" thing that keeps that sharp down, and mine was relaxed and would let up all the stomach bitter. So the term really hasn't got anything to do with the reality that the acid helps digest. It refers mainly to the certainty that it comes up.
What I have is usually referred to as acid reflux, but its also referred to as indigestion... So I hope that helped...

You're right, if it's scheduled in the stomach. If, on the other hand, it's happening within the lower esophagus, not so much.
