How frequent melatonin sleeping pills can i pilfer?
My doctor told me to get melatonin (over the counter sleeping pills) to help me sleep at night. Theyre 3 mg respectively, and just one pill does not help me at all. what would be the most i could appropriate without majorly overdosing?

maybe you are taking too much. I started w/ 3mg a year, and it worked for like a week, then it quit working. Then I backed down to roughly 1mg a day, and I also took two calcium pills before bed (calcium bis-glycinate) and 6mg of magnesium (magnesium oxide) in a pill call "bone assure" by life extension before bed. This combo seems to aid more. Also I don't drink for 3 hrs before bed and don't eat for 3 hrs before bed.
Melatonin has a very low LD50 (concentration which caused demise in 50% of test animals). So, I wouldn't be too afraid of taking more than one pill. Personally, when I used it, I took 4 and it never affected me negatively but everyone is different. Start next to 2 and go from there.
If you get to the point where on earth you're taking multiples, I would advise seeing your physician again and letting him know that you aren't getting good results with melatonin and would prefer somthing else. I would recommend, if melatonin fails you, trying the non-tranquilizing sleeping pills as the tranquilizing ones are habit forming. Source(s): B.Sc. (Honours) Microbiology/Immunology

The recommended dose is 3mg at bedtime. Funny thing about melatonin, if one doesn't work taking more won't work any. Source(s): Pharmacist
it depends on you, if you are taking one is of late fine, but with two pills of 3mg of melatonin your body may not resist
do not take more than 1 pill.
