A few question almost Prednisone?

I went to the doctor about a week ago and he gave me some Prednisone and some other pills for a sinus and ear infection.
I stopped taking them after a week because I'm pretty much better. I know I should run all of them but I don't really care.. But now I'm getting headache and stomach pains. Is this from not taking it?

And does Prednisone do? I wikipedia'd it, and it said it helped your immune system or something.

You did the worst thing possible Prednisone is not a drug to be taken lightly! There is a point as to why they are doctors and your not! Prednisone is a drug you have to be weened off of you cant just stop taking it and expect to be ok.... Source(s): duh...
You should never basically stop taking prednisone, its meant to give your immune system a boost, but you should be weened off them, close to if you started on 2 for 2 days then 1 and a half for 2 days etc., etc., your doctor should have explained this to you. They are also used for infections, whether it be nasal, sinus or even asthmatics because they serve clear away the infection, see your doctor again to find out more, I have been on them for immune system boosts and my partner often have them for his asthma and its always the same you have a glorious dose to start then slowing go down, and because its a steroid you can get an increased appetite for food and gain freight, so be careful of this, goodluck! :)
Prednisone is a sterroid and yes, you can get sick from not taking it.

You need to be weened sour of it if you have been taking very much of it.

Did the Dr bequeath you a plastic pack where you take so many pills on the first morning then a little less on the second hours of daylight then a little less on the third light of day and so on through the end of the week? You need to follow this exactly as it is perscribed.

This drug helps things approaching inflamation especially around your heart and my husband has even been perscribed it for his gout. When used correctly, it is great help.
Prednisone doesn't relieve your immune system, it shuts it down. One of the things it does is reduce swelling, which is probably why you got it. It's not going to help struggle infection, in fact, the opposite is true.

Stopping Prednisone briefly can be bad, because your adrenal glands stop producing the natural steroids that your body makes. Unless the dose be very small, Prednisone is usually tapered before stopping it.

By not taking the full antibiotic dose (I presume that's what the other pills were), you are setting yourself up for infections that are resistant to adjectives antibiotics. Your infection could get bad enough to erode into your bones or brain. It's a accurate idea to follow your doctor's instructions - they're given for a reason.

You need to nickname your physician, apologize for disregarding instructions, and find out what the next step it.
