Why are Neurologist/Neurosurgeons so mean/unfriendly?

Maybe its just me.But iv been to my share of them and they seem close to up happy to serious and strange.I went to one back when i be about 15 and he did the whole exam in literally 3 Min's.And he kept walking surrounded by and out the door. And he was very monotone. Then my mom saw one about a year ago.She have to have back surgery and he was a complete (a)$$hole.Extremely rude.I enjoy herd story's of other people having alike experience with them.I don't expect them to be my best friend. But geez

I've only seen one neurologist, and she be nice enough.
Totally different types of doctors.

Every neurologist I know (and I was an assistant to one) is really nice - they're the ones who examine you and ask you questions and business with stuff like strokes, alzheimer's, migraines, etc. They're good ancestors.

Neurosurgeons are... surgeons. Generally more interested in doing their thing in the operating room than in fact talking to their patients. (Ok, total generalization - but it's a stereotype for a reason.) Plus, surgical training is adjectives about being aggressive and moving fast, which doesn't comfort.
I can't speak much about neurologists, except that as a group, they are kinda strange (Sorry, Marie!) The men wear bow ties, and they always enjoy a load of stuff sticking out of their pockets. (How's THAT for a generalization LOL)

Neurosurgeons are surgeons, and as a group, they tend to be (a)$$holes at times. (Some are that way full time) The training they budge through is brutal, and they have to deal with a great deal of stressful stuff, so they get that way. I work with surgeons, and I'm in recent times used to it and don't let it bother me. In fact, I ignore it unless there's a lenient care issue, and then I'll go toe to toe next to them to make sure the patient has the best thinking.

Find a surgeon who's good at what they do, and don't expect anything approaching friendliness. If you happen to find one who is nice, consider it a bonus. Source(s): I'm an anesthesiologist. I stand 3 feet from surgeons adjectives day long.
because they get heaps of money. And they don't aid if there friendly or not, they still get the money. Probs got stuck up beside all the money over the years.
1. Some professions attract certain personalities.
2. Overwork
3. Unrealistic patient expectations.
i) Patients next to 'bizarre' symptoms end up seeing neurologists as other doctors can find nothing wrong
ii) Patients and families expect the surgeon to cure them (esp. cancer or put a bet on pain) when this is impossible.
4. Complacency from people that interact with with them ie other condition staff, patients, etc. If you put up with their crap, they will continue it. Source(s): Perspective from the other side of the desk.
