How will YOU benefit from the stimulus bill?
I'm really confused about this whole ordeal. We have a man who run for the white house on the premise of CHANGE. I haven't seen that change yet, okay, with the exception of reversing gears on military actions (trials and troop movements). What I have see is more overspending and more crap reasons why we need to spend 50 bazillion dollars (yes, an exageration, but 800 billion is still more than most can fathom).
Here's where my frustration comes from. Our elected representatives wants to throw more money into the lending institutions so that, as our President said last darkness, the banks can start loaning money out again. WHAT? I thought one of the major problems with our nation be that the people have spent outside of their means. Isn't this what cause the problem in the first place (people buying more house than they can afford, buying too much on credit...)? And they want to spend billions on new projects... Like a polar bear exhibit surrounded by Rhode Island? Sure, lets rebuild the roads and bridges... It will create employment until it is complete and then what? Do we 'create' other job for those people? And what of the cost? Anyone remember the $$5,000 toilet seat? Fact is that it costs the government maybe 10 times as much money to create a job than it takes private enterprise (view Granholm's record within Michigan for proof).
Here's my question for ya'll. How are you going to benefit from all this spending and government handouts to the bank and auto industry and all?
I work in the auto industry and have feel the impact of the recessed economy. I'm a sales consultant who has see my salary drop by more than 50% since last year (now making less than $20k a year - on the other hand owe close to $1k in taxes from last year!). We see this money going to the automakers and the line workers getting the buyouts, but what of us out here busting our butts trying to put up for sale these cars? Where is the 'help' for us?
So, let's here it. How is this bill going to help you? It's money that comes from your pockets... is it worth it?
I also encourage everyone to write their congressperson to voice their opinion about this new round of bailouts.
Answers:
I'm not. In fact, I'm going to be worse off because someone is going to own to pay for this stimulus package and they're sure not going to take it out of the politicians salary!!
