Can Augmentin or Amoxicillin be used to treat Trichomoniasis?
Answers:
There have be studies done which show that the penicillins do kill trichomonas in vitro, but they are not recommended as a treatment.
Metronidazole or tinidazole are recommended.
no. metronidazole is recommended to treat trichomoniasis.(trichomonas is a protozoa, not a bacteria that can be killed by antibiotic)
As far as I'm aware, Amoxicillin would be no good for Trich.
Augmentin might work but the preferred treatment is usually metronidazole- which has better success.
I hope this help! Source(s): I'm a med student
No; neither would own any effect. Metronidazole is the proper treatment.
Contrary to the post above, Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanic acid) will not work any better than amoxicillin alone. Source(s): pharmacologist
