you can call me if you're local lol
I truly wish I could tell you something that will prevent all homesickness. I can't. Anyone that tell you otherwise is lying.
Some ideas to lessen homesickness.
A cell phone for you, maybe an 800 number for your folks. (My parents got an 800 number while my sisters & I be in college & the first few years we were on our own, so that we could call them at their expense.)
Lots of stuff from home to make fancy your place with. The more familiar your surroundings, the less you'll touch like you're in a foreign place, & you'll always own a safe haven to retreat to...
Make some videos of people, places & things that you will miss the most. While you're away, ask your parents & friends to hold on to making the videos & to send them to you. (When my friend - now my husband - go to London for a year, we recorded an evening at our favorite pub, with our favorite band & sent it to him. He still have the tape & says it helped him abundantly.)
You don't say how far away you are moving. Before you go, make a plan beside your folks to exchange visits on a fairly regular basis, at tiniest at first. It should ease some of your homesickness early on to know exactly how long it will be before you see your loved ones again. They're coming to stop by in 2 more weeks. I'm going home for a visit in a week. Having a time frame help.
Good luck! I hope that helps!
I estimate it is a good idea you are going out of the state because at 23 most people hold been out of their parents house for a year or two already and it is natural to be homesick but eventually you have to verbs with your life and right now would be as polite a time as any. Graduate school is very important and you definately want to keep your head in it and if its really going to bother you by person out of the state then you might want to reconsider grad schools and presume about going to a school in your state, you should still carry your own place to stay that way you can get out of your parents house and start developing a healthy boundry but that channel you will still be able to visit them on a regular basis.
I be homesick when I was 18 and left for college but I was okay after the first couple weeks and it be worth it because college is very important and I learned alot from not living near my parents and it prepared me for my life today. I was able to buy my own house and live on my own in need any thought because I lived at school for 4 years aaway from my family. So I think you shold provide it a try.
i would say that the best entry to do to not be homesick is to find someone to take up your time friends or a boyfriend
