The number of scripts they can write for morphine is limited even for oncologists treating terminally ill cancer patients.

It's not so much that the script number is limited. The problem is that doctors are treated resembling drug dealers rather than educated experts. Everybody think they're an expert (just look at the other answer) when they really know squat about pain management. Doctors are path to restricted in their actions, whether it be by the federal government or by schmucks running insurance companies.
BTW, as a message to the other responder, at hand are no pure opiates sold. The drugs prescribed by dentists (such as codeine and hydrocodone) are mixed with acetaminophen. Do us all a favor and research your comments before you put together them.

There is no place in the US that you can purchase a narcotic OTC. Again, check your facts.
I think a reversal is needed. I mean you read out a limit is enforced on oncologists which is wrong however extractions of wisdom teeth normally are followed up beside a prescription for strong painkillers, opium based; codein, vicodin etc. I'vee had severe tooth pain formerly but I'm sure a less powerful drug could do an adequate job. they are too widely available and too pure, mixing next to paracetamol or ibuprofen would reduce the drug abuse side of it because in establish to stimulate an addiction more of it would need to be taken which then introduces obvious robustness risks.
