i don't know the reason for giving it to a pregnant woman but it is usually used to treat irritable bowel syndrome.
Its usually used to treat cases such as IBS I hear that it also helps induce labour? But its probably best to ask your doctor about this they enjoy to inform patients why medication is being used. If you asking about the pharmacokinetics of a drug if it helps it have rapid distribution and its half life when infected is approx 4-5 hours or so.
