Officially solely if you decide to do the surgery or pathology residency from day 0. If you're a senior hospitalist working in your corral for many years, chances are you wouldn't feel similar to going back to becomming a newbie scrub with horrible working hours and mediocre pay. Internists do a few surgical similar to procedures, but you won't be seeing them performing laparatomies.
I could see pathology being more easy in smaller countries if you spend plentifully of time with a pathologist learning their job and memorizing every intricate book smart detail that's useless contained by the clinical job and someone simply offering you a job without you have had done residency; but I doubt that would happen in a place resembling the US. yes, but that would require taking two different residencies, unlike being a cardiologist where you take a residency contained by internal medicine and then a fellowship in cardiology. Source(s): med student
