I have had laparoscopic cholecystectomy. I think you would prefer four 1-inch incisions to one long 6 inch incision. The curative time is much faster (7-10 days from surgery to going back to work; my friend did it in four days). Medically, the smaller the incision the better the result. Just be aware of "organ shift" which is something they did not tell me roughly speaking. I swear I heard my insides go "squish" for the first one or two days whenever I stood up. However, one of the possibilities with laparoscopy is that it may involve to be converted to an open procedure if they decide you need it or they come across anything out of the blue. That's a possibility for any surgery. Source(s): Working in the medical field for 20 years; 13 for surgeons.
I had laparascopy to check ovaries, 1973 approximately.
